1/2 Year Resolutions Part 2…

Now for part two… I really want to focus on keeping up what I have already started this year, and keep building on it every day, but I also want to add a few to the to do list! My first will be one for you. I promise to start taking more pictures for you! This way, when I tell you I lost 20 pounds, you can see for yourself. In my defense, I didn’t know in January I would be starting my adventure in blogging, and I’m usually the one behind the camera.
About a month ago, I made a big step toward my future. I have been searching for a little over a year for something legitimate that I could do to work from home, and I think I finally found it. As I build my Shaklee business, I love it more and more. I love that it’s a business based on people helping people, and sharing what you love. For the first time since I became a mom, I have something other than my kids to be passionate about. I don’t have a success story yet, but the amazing group of woman that I have joined on this journey inspire me everyday to make one. If you are interested in learning more send me an email.
Since I didn’t have a business at the beginning of the year, I didn’t make any resolutions for it. Mainly, I just want to stay passionate, stay focused, and BELIEVE I can do this! I’ve been telling myself for as long as I can remember, you can’t do this so why try. This year, my whole mantra changed. I’m 30 years old now, I’m a grown woman, and I CAN do whatever I put my mind to. I birthed two children for goodness sakes, everything else should be a breeze : )
One of my goals for this year that has kind of taken a back burner has been to get organized. My son is starting preschool this year, and I want to be that mom who is always on top of it. I made a family planner earlier this year in an attempt to make this resolution a reality. It worked for a couple of months, and then I started using it less and less, and now I hardly use it at all : ( Well, now that you all know I’m slacking, I guess I will have to get back at it, and while I’m at it, I will take pictures for you! Tying it all together!
The planner is part one of my get organized resolution. Our home is the second part, and for this one, I am drowning in an endless sea of toys, and laundry, and toys, and dishes, and toys…did I say toys yet? Fat dad and I both grew up with out a lot so I think we have been trying to overcompensate with our own kids. I know we are both living out some childhood dreams through them.
As I tried put our house back in order, I realized some very basic things. One, I had no shelves. Every blog I went to on organizing your house had cute shelves or storage units. How could everything have a place when I didn’t have a place to put it? So I bought some book cases, and again was off to a great start.
The second thing I realized was we simply have too much stuff! There, I said it. There is no way around it. I would need a house covered in wall to wall storage units to find a place to put all of our stuff. In the four and a half years we have been parents, I don’t know that we have gotten rid of any toys. I will admit it came in handy because we did have another baby, and even though AL is a girl, she likes to play with action figures and trucks : ) Fat Dad doesn’t know, but the baby bug has bit me again, and I long to hold another sweet baby in my arms, so I look at stuff to get rid of and go, but what if we do have another. The harsh reality is if we don’t purge some of what we have, I don’t think we could fit another child in this house! Ok, I exaggerate a little, but you get the point. So my final resolution for the year is to get my house back. I am going to purge like a crazy lady until I feel like I am the one running this house again, and not the other way around. I hate garage sales…well, I love going to them, I hate having them so I think I will give donating a try. Do you have any tips or tricks for me to try?
Well, there you have it. My resolutions for the rest of 30. What are you going to work on for the second half of the year? Are your kids’ toys burying you alive, or have you already come up for air?
